Electrophoresis

Product Specifications

This method involves migration and thus separation of DNA/protein depending upon its molecular weight between an electric field. The Electrophoresis procedure is carried out by loading the samples on a gel (either agarose or polyacrylamide gel) which is casted in a casting apparatus. The gel is then run in the presence of appropriate buffers with electric current passed across the positive and negative terminals using an electric power supply/ power pack. The samples gradually move depending on the size of the DNA or Protein which is determined by the molecular weights. An agarose gel is visualised under UV light using a trans illuminator to observe the samples. Hence the Electrophoresis technique requires electrophoresis apparatus, power pack and trans illuminator to be able to successfully carry out the experiment. T
